The net explosive weight is computed in the following manner for:
exclusive of propelling charge.
Solid Propellants: Net weight of the propellant in containers for bulk propellants or propelling
Rockets and Guided Missiles: Net weight
in the warhead plus the net weight
propellant in the rocket motor.
An exception to the role exists where testing has shown that propellant in the rocket
motor will make no significant contribution to the high explosive yield upon detonation
of the warhead. In this case the NEW will be computed on either the warhead or
propellant, but not both, the greater distance so determined will apply.
QUANTITY-DISTANCE CLASSES AND DIVISIONS
There are five quantity-distance classes and divisions. They are broken down as follows:
