Now let's try SUBTRACTION.

sample problem for explanation purposes.
Before finding the difference for the above
problem, we first must borrow 10 from the tens
column so that we can subtract 9 from a number
that is either equal to or larger than it.
(In
this example, we have to go left all the way to
the millions column to get the 10.)
