(3) The frequency of a radio wave is the number of complete cycles that
occur in 1 second. Figure 2-3 compares the wavelength of radio waves
of two different frequencies. Since the frequency of a radio wave is
very great, it is expressed in kilohertz (kHz) or MHz. One kHz equals
1,000 Hz, and one MHz equals 1,000,000 Hz,

(4) Most tactical radio sets operate within the 1.5-MHz to 400-MHz portion
of the frequency spectrum. Radio frequencies are divided into bands of
