controlled environmental conditions using specified procedures.
The
completed report of this calibration (including exact readings, correction
factors, environmental condition, techniques used, etc) is transmitted, with
the standard or standards, to the point of origin for evaluation of the
capabilities and procedures of the selected calibration facility.
3.
CALIBRATION OBJECTIVES, POLICIES, AND SUBORDINATE COMMANDS.
a. Calibration policies were developed to support the basic purpose of
the Army calibration system; i.e., to insure the accuracy of test and
measuring equipment used in research and development, industrial, and field
service functions.
The accuracy of all equipment used for testing and
measuring functions will be certified, at prescribed intervals, using
certified test and measuring equipment or calibration standards of at least
the next higher order of accuracy.
All test and measuring equipment and
calibration standards (requiring certification) will be certified using
procedures that have been developed specifically for the item being
calibrated.
Like items will be certified, using identical procedures and
equipment, regardless of the application of the item. The accuracy of all
test and measuring equipment will be traceable to the National Bureau of
Standards.
This will be accomplished through calibration facilities
established specifically for this purpose.
