lesson one
electron emission
INTRODUCTION
Electronics has been defined as the science dealing with the
control of electron flow, especially by the means of electron (or
vacuum) tubes.
The terms electron tubes and vacuum tubes are used
interchangeably to refer to a tube in which a flow of current takes
place in an enclosed space. A vacuum tube is one from which the air
has been removed to form a partial vacuum.
There are numerous types of electron tubes manufactured; each
type
differs
from
the
other
and
has
specific
electrical
characteristics. In this lesson you will study the early experiments
in the development of the electron tube and the various types and
functions of tubes commonly used today in commercial and military
equipment.
