MM3676
Inspect to see that the lead wires
are shorted (shunted), either by a
shorting tab or by being twisted
together. If the lead wires are not
shorted, it is a CRITICAL defect.
(Be careful. If the lead wires are not
shorted, even a small static electric
charge can set off the blasting cap.)
Next, inspect the insulation of the
lead wires for damage. Lengthwise
cracks longer than 1/2 inch,
lengthwise cracks ending in a crack
running around the wire, and flaking
insulation are all MAJOR defects.
Lengthwise cracks of less than 1/2
inch or more than one crack running
around the wire, or both these
conditions in less than 6 inches of
wire, are all MINOR defects.
