TASK
Purge Viewer Infrared AN/PAS-7A
CONDITIONS
1.
PERFORMANCE. Given a viewer infrared AN/PAS-7A, TM 11-5855-246-24&P
extracts with all changes, a predetermined site, special tools and equipment listed in TM, using
realistic tactical scenario narrations and discussions, and with a qualified supervisory OJT
monitor's assistance.
2.
PERFORMANCE-ORIENTED. Lesson 1 materials, pencil, paper, TM 11-5855-246-
24&P, and without supervision.
STANDARDS
1.
PERFORMANCE. Correctly purge night vision goggles AN/PAS-7A without error,
within one out of two attempts, IAW the technical manual, under a simulated realistic operating
scenario and environmental conditions, without causing damage to the equipment or injury to
personnel, within 15 minutes per attempt.
2.
PERFORMANCE-ORIENTED. Demonstrate competency of the task skills and
knowledge by correctly responding to 80 percent of the multiple-choice test questions covering
purging of the Viewer Infrared AN/PAS-7A.

Learning Event 1:
Purge Viewer Infrared AN/PAS-7A.

Situation. Tactical scenario environmental conditions. Soldier is assigned to a
direct support unit as a Special Electronic Devices Repairer; at a permanent or
semipermanent facility or mobile shop van. A Viewer Infrared AN/PAS-7A is job
ordered to your maintenance shop with a Maintenance Request (DA Form 2407 or 5504)
and Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet DA Form 2404 indicating a 02
priority and the deficiency requiring work is, "degraded optical performance due to
fogging." Results of technical inspection reveal the AN/PAS-7A electronics are in good
order, however optical performance indicates purging is required and is recorded as such
on the Maintenance Forms (DA Form(s) 2407 or 5504 and 2404). You must now purge the
AN/PAS-7A and make it fully mission-capable as quickly as possible. This maintenance
