We determine the amount to be 259,756.
The correct amount is figured like this:
Additive Operational Project Stocks
Since additive operational project stocks consist of ammunition in addition to allowances positioned
in an active theater for support of US forces, amounts and types are specified in the operational project
authorization; therefore, computation is not required.
COMPUTING UNIT BASIC LOADS
Requirements are computed and reported for UBLs using Appendix A and Appendix C, Ammunition
Basic Load Guide, Table 2-20, extract of FM 101-10-1/2. The UBL planners are required to compute or
determine the amount of ammunition that will be carried on personnel, in vehicles, and bulk loads
based on the mission and amount of available organic transportation.
The formula for computing UBL is--WD times number of rounds per weapon equals total number of
rounds.
Here is an example of how to compute the UBL.
Using Appendix C, find the authorized LIN (line item number) for hand grenade,
fragmentation. There may be more than one. Next, cross-reference the LIN in Appendix C
with the LIN in Appendix A to find the weapons density.
Example: in Appendix A, LIN C76335 is authorized 100 weapons. In Appendix C, the
authorized rounds per weapons is 10.
The correct amount is figured like this:
Now try to solve the following situation.
The Situation: Compute the total hand grenade, fragmentation authorization.
We determine the amount to be 17,500.
We went to Appendix C to determine which LINs are authorized hand grenade, fragmentation, and
in what quantities. Appendix A was then cross-referenced against the LINs in Appendix C to determine
quantities, if any, of the LINs authorized by the division TOE. Total authorizations were then
determined by multiplying the numbers under
