c. Connect radio handset cable to connector J3 on front of LDF.
d. Ensure communications between receiving and sending LDFs.

Digital Modem Interconnection. When transmitting and receiving signals are transferred in
digital format, modems must be installed in the communications link to transfer the digital format to a
compatible signal for transmission. Prepare sending and receiving LDFs for operation using digital
modem as follows:
a. Remove jumper plug assembly from connector J1, if installed.
b. Install digital equipment I/O cable between signal connector J1 and digital equipment I/O
connector (Figure 10.)
c. Connect radio handset cable to connector J3 on front of LDF.
d. Ensure communications between sending and receiving LDFs.
7.
VINSON Equipment Interconnection. Prepare receiving and sending LDFs for operation using
VINSON equipment interface as follows:
a. Remove jumper plug assembly from signal connector J1, if installed.
b. Install I/O cable between signal connector J1 and AUDIO connector on VINSON Encryption
Set KY-57. Figure 11 shows a typical installation.
