(2) A typical layout of a company area with one secondary reference
laboratory is in figure 1.
In planning the company layout, the secondary
reference laboratory must be given primary consideration, with the various
other elements being placed in the same building, provided the layout can be
arranged not to adversely affect the secondary reference operations.
(3) Within the secondary reference facility itself, an area should be
provided for transfer section loading, unloading, checkout, and storage.
This area should provide convenient access to the various standards
laboratories within the facility.
(4) If two secondary reference facilities are established in the same
general area, consideration must be given to dispersion, if availability of
facilities permit, to prevent loss of both facilities in the event of
attack.
