(DOL). Include the supply control study results to justify the requested items.
(6) After completing review of the forecast, the SAAS-4 activity notifies the authenticating
authority, and the unit of the availability of ammunition to support the forecast, and the actions taken by
the SSA.
e. Except when directed by the MACOM, all Training Ammunition is stocked, based on Training
Ammunition forecasts submitted as part of the using unit budget. Actual quantities of DODIC stocks at
a SAAS-4 activity are governed by worldwide availability, forecasted requirements, explosive limits,
item costs, shipping costs, order-ship time, and other considerations. Stocks on hand are the minimum
in terms of storage that allows 100-percent demand satisfaction of authorized, and approved training
requirements. The SAAS-4 activity uses unit forecasts, and supply control studies to determine if assets
will meet requirements.
(1) Study period. Conduct the supply control study far enough in advance to allow low priority
shipments to meet requirements.
(2) Source of study data. Take requirements from DA Form 1298 by RDD. Take due-ins from
DA Form 4999 by RDD. Take balance on hand from the DODIC Master Record, DA Form 5203. See
Figure 12.
(3) Study format. The on-hand quantity, plus the quantity due-in during the period of the study,
less the quantity due-out during the period of the study equals availability.
(4) Post-study actions. Compare availability to the unit forecast. Determine if the SAAS-4
activity must request a high-priority shipment to prevent a zero balance on the forecasted items between
due-in RDDs.
10. After the SSA/ASP informs the unit that the ammunition for their training requirement is available,
they will prepare a DA Form 581 (Request for Issue or Turn-In of Ammunition). (See Figure 13.) The
DA Form 581 is prepared as follows. Instructions are by block or column.
a. Block 1
Enter the unit document number which is taken from the expendable
document register. The unit document number consists of the DODAAC,
Julian Date, and serial number.
b. Block 2
Leave this block blank.
c. Block 3
