(5) If you did well, great!
If you did bad, then you need more
practice. You should do at least two or three checkouts. Ask the training
supervisor for as many as time permits.

a. This exercise will help you to inspect the radome for any flaws or
cracks that can be identified by you. Materials needed should be there in
the training area.
b. Training supervisor will give you the radome that will be inspected.
Inspect as follows:
(1) Remove moisture and loose dirt with a clean dry cloth.
(2) Remove grease and oil with a cloth dampened with trichloroethane.
(3) Inspect radome for cracks and signs of wear.
WARNING: The fumes of trichloroethane are TOXIC.
Use only in a
proper ventilated area.
Do not use near open flame!
Trichloroethane is not flammable, but exposure to an open
flame or hot metal forms highly toxic phosgene gas.
(4) This completes your inspection of the radome.
If you have any
questions, talk them over with your training supervisor. If equipment was
not available, the training supervisor should demonstrate the procedure for
you. Get your supervisor to sign you off.
