3-2 Practice Steps
a. General: This exercise gives you a chance to improve your skill and
timing by practicing identifying faulty components of Doppler Navigation Set
AN/ASN-128.
Your training supervisor will place a series of faulty
components in the AN/ASN-128 for you to identify.
You must correctly
identify the faulty component within 30 minutes or ask the training
supervisor for help.
You will continue to practice troubleshooting until
you can meet this lesson standard. If you feel practice is not needed, you
may go on to the evaluation; if help is needed, then you should contact the
training supervisor.
b. Practice identifying faulty components.
(1) Preparation: Before you begin this exercise, make sure that the
AN/ASN-128 is complete and working.
Have training supervisor to place a
faulty component in the AN/ASN-128 and get the tools needed to perform this
exercise.
para 5-6, page 92 until an incorrect reading is obtained, then go to the
troubleshooting table 5-2 and replace the component that is listed in the
corrective action column beside the incorrect CDU display.
(3) After each component is identified and replaced, the incorrect
display on the CDU should be checked to insure that the fault was corrected
and the CDU is displaying the correct display.
After this exercise is
completed, check all equipment at your work position for correct operation.
(4) Identification of faulty components.
(a) Training supervisor will place faulty component in the AN/ASN-
128 at your work position.
(b) You have 30 minutes to locate the faulty component.
The
procedure used in this exercise is this:
1. When you locate the faulty component, you will notify the
training supervisor.
2. If this is the faulty component, the training supervisor
will verify it; if not, continue to troubleshoot until the fault is found.
