AIR-TESTING PROPELLING CHARGE CONTAINERS
Propelling charges will deteriorate or
become unserviceable when they get
damp. To prevent this, the containers
they are stored in are air-tight. These
containers are tested periodically to
make sure that seals have not
deteriorated and caused air leaks. This
is called an air test. Failure to pass an
air test is a MAJOR defect.
To perform air testing, you must first
prepare the air test kit for operation. To
do this, you will need a source of air,
providing at least 30 pounds per square
inch (PSI) of air pressure. (The air
source must provide dry air, so truck air
supply tanks cannot be used.)
Follow the procedures and safety requirements of your local SOP. Because of the potential danger from sparks
