Clinometer POS/NEG degree settings.
i. The black markings on the scale and knob are used for setting the
clinometer to a positive angle setting.
When setting the clinometer to a
whole positive angle, set the plunger to the proper number on the scale, and
set the knob until the black zero is over the reference mark. NEVER USE A
COMBINATION OF RED AND BLACK SETTINGS (SCALE AND KNOB) TO SET OR READ THE
CLINOMETER (Figure 56).
NOTE:
When using the knob for a part of a negative degree setting,
the red markings on the knob are used; if the part of a degree
is positive the black markings are used.
j. Operation of the clinometer is as follows (Figure 55).
(1) The clinometer coarse adjust can be changed by pulling the
plunger away from the teeth of the scale and moving the plunger to the new
degree setting.
(2) Place the plunger on 40 degrees on the scale.
(3) The clinometer fine adjust is made by changing the setting of the
knob. The knob changes the clinometer setting by parts of a degree.
