d. After hearing the receive-ready tone from the receiving LDF, press SEND push button. The
SEND indicator flashes slowly at first, then speeds up during transmission and goes out when
transmission is complete.

Receive (Burst Transmission) and Print Operation. To receive and print out a message from the
sending LDF, perform the following procedures:
a. Sending LDF operator informs you by voice he is ready to send. If LDF is not turned on,
perform steps b and c, then inform sending operator you are ready to receive.
b. Set MODE/DATA FORMAT switch (Figure 6) to any MODE B position.
c. Set PUSH FOR ON power switch to ON position and verify POWER ON indicator lights.
ERROR indicator flashes then goes out, indicating that the memory diagnostic test has been completed.
The drum stops in the home position.
d. Use voice communications for the sending operator to notify you that the sending LDF is
ready to transmit and to confirm that the receiving LDF is ready to receive.
e. After confirming that the sending LDF and receiving LDF are ready, press RCV push button
to transmit a receive-ready tone to the sending LDF. RCV indicator flashes slowly while awaiting
reception, rapidly during reception, and then remains steady. Steps f, g, and h can be performed while
receiving message.
f. Firmly press PAPER RELEASE lever, insert output copyset or plain paper covered with
carbon paper into drum clamp as far as possible (carbon paper on top, paper side down, carbon black
against paper), then release PAPER RELEASE lever.
g. Set carriage START handle just inside the right edge of output copyset.
h. Set carriage STOP handle to extreme left of its travel.
i. To print out, press RCV push button a second time. Copyset automatically unloads at end of
printing operation and copyset can be removed. The RCV indicator remains on until message is printed
out from receive memory then goes out.
