Receive Operation. To operate the receiving LDF in Mode A, perform the following procedures:
a. Set MODE/DATA FORMAT switch (Figure 6) to MODE A position.
b. Set PUSH FOR ON power switch to ON position and verify that POWER ON indicator
lights.
c. Press PAPER RELEASE lever firmly, insert output copyset into drum clamp as far as
possible with the bound edge in drum and carbon paper on top, then release lever. Margin lamps flash
for 10 seconds maximum. Press and release PAPER RELEASE lever to start margin lamps flashing
again, if necessary. Flashing stops when copyset is loaded on drum.
d. Remove inner protective sheet from output copyset.
e. Set carriage START handle just inside the right edge of output copyset.
f. Set carriage STOP handle to extreme left of its travel.
g. Wait for communication from sending LDF, using handset or telephone set, to ensure that
switches are set in same position as those of sending LDF.
NOTE: If field wire or telephone system interconnection is used, the jumper plug assembly must
be installed on signal connector J1 (Figure 7.)
h. When informed by sending operator, press RCV push button (Figure 6). This sends receive-
ready tone to sending operator. Verify that RCV indicator lights.
i. Drum starts to rotate upon reception of transmitted signal. Copyset automatically unloads at
end of printing operation.

OPERATE LDF IN MODE B
Mode B Operating Procedures. Mode B operating instructions for the LDF consist of
document loading and unloading, and the various send and receive operations. The LDF is in
Mode B when the MODE/DATA FORMAT switch (Figure 6) is selected to the COMP (compressed),
COMP FEC (compressed with forward error correction), or UNCOMP (uncompressed) positions.
Mode B self-test operating procedures are provided in paragraph 2-6.4 of TM 11-5815-615-10.
Except for self-test and use of the LDF as a field copier, paragraph 2-8.4 of TM 11-5815-615-10, the
procedures describe the actions required by two operators: one at the sending LDF, and
