a foreseeable need in the near future. Instruments which are held in direct
exchange stocks and equipment pools are considered to be in administrative
storage.
Instruments in administrative storage, direct exchange stock, or
equipment pools do not require periodic (cyclic) calibration.
and maintenance coordinator, in coordination with the instrument owner/user,
will determine whether an instrument should be placed in administrative
storage. They should be removed from the recall schedule, but retained in
the Instrument Master Record File (IMRF) and identified as "CBU."
(1) Lack of resources prevents the owning/using unit from performing
the required organizational maintenance and using its organic instruments.
(2) Accomplishment of the current mission does not require the use of
specific authorized instruments on a routine basis but they must be retained
for contingency or other justifiable reasons.
c. Serviceability.
Instruments placed in administrative storage must
be in a serviceable condition or be capable of being restored to a
serviceable condition within a 48-hour period.
(1) Measurement standards that are to be placed in administrative
storage must be cross-checked (TB 9-4931-402-50) or intercompared (TB 9-
4931-489-50) prior to removal from service if they were used during the
current
calibration
interval.
When
there
is
no
cross-check
or
intercomparison procedure for a specific measurement standard, the standard
must be calibrated.
(2) Instruments retained in direct exchange stocks or equipment pools
will be maintained in a serviceable condition.
5.
TECHNICAL SUPPLY SUPPORT
a. The technical supply operations of a CRC include requisitioning,
receiving, classifying, storing, issuing, accounting for and disposing of
repair parts, direct exchange stocks, operational readiness floats,
measurement standards and associated equipment.
b. Current Army publications provide definitive instructions applicable
to the Army supply system.
The following, and other appropriate supply
regulations, must be complied with to assure adequate supply support for CRC
operations.
