1. A division ammunition office staffing may vary from division to division since the DAO is tailored to
the division it supports. Generally, there are three organizational elements in the DAO, but because of
the mission variations among the divisions, not all of these elements may be present.
a. Operations Element. The Operations Element, usually the fullest staffed, has the following
responsibilities:
Maintains ammunition stock records and supporting documentation.
Provides technical assistance to units on storage, handling and maintenance of operational
and basic loads.
Maintains status of training ammunition allowances using DA Form 5203 and 5204.
Enforces the controlled supply rate (CSR) for using units by processing DA Form 581 thru
the DAO or his representative for authentication.
Monitors the DA Form 1687s (Notice of Delegation of Authority) for currency.
Provides technical assistance to the G-3 in forecasting training ammunition.
Monitors any prepositioned war reserve (PPWR) or contingency stocks for serviceability and
availability.
Coordinates with the Movements Control Office (MCO) for back-haul of un-needed corps
transportation assets at the ATPs.
Consolidates/maintains RSR and CSR records.
Informs the ATP section of the status of convoys going to the ATPs.
Prepares ammunition management reports such as ammunition expenditure.
Reports and turns in or destroys excess, suspended, restricted, or unserviceable
ammunition.
Coordinates with the Class VII managers for status of division weapon system.
