Learning Event 1:
1.
General.
Although all components, such as the transmitter, receiver, timer,
and indicator are equally responsible for the efficient operation of a radar
set, much of the effectiveness of a radar set depends upon the transmitter.
The transmitter generates RF energy in short powerful bursts of sufficient
strength to reach all targets within the maximum range of the radar set.
2.
Basic transmitter system.
The major components of a radar transmitter are shown in Figure 52.
The components are the high-voltage power supply, modulator, and magnetron.
The RF system, duplexer, and antenna are additional components needed to
send the RF energy into space and to receive the target echoes.
