Location and Description of Major Components. The LDF is 52.58 cm (20.7 inches) wide, 46.99
cm (18.5 inches) deep, 18.41 cm (7.25 inches) high, and weighs 24.49 kg (54 pounds). Figure 1 shows a
view of the LDF with the front cover closed ready for transportation, and a view with the front cover
open ready for operation. Figure 3 shows a view of the LDF with the carriage frame assembly removed
but not disconnected electrically. The major components of the LDF are described below.
a. Front cover. The front cover (Figure 1) is secured to the LDF with two fasteners that are
recessed in the cover. A carrying handle is also recessed in the cover. The front cover is hinged at the
top rear corners and is swung back during operation, exposing the document holders (on the inside of the
front cover), paper tray assembly, carriage frame assembly, and the front panel. The front cover can be
easily removed by sliding the two hinge pins out of the hinges. Vacuum caused by environmental
changes, such as temperature or altitude, may result within the LDF case. This vacuum can be released
by pressing the red button on the pressure relief valve located on the front cover.
b. Paper tray assembly. The paper tray assembly (Figure 3) is secured to the carriage frame
assembly with two thumbscrews. The tray is approximately 40.64 cm (16 inches) wide, 10.16 cm (4
inches) deep, and 3.81 cm (1.5 inches) high. The paper tray guides the paper onto the drum during
loading and guides the paper off the drum during unloading.
