THE ARMY
CALIBRATION
SYSTEM
Figure 6.
(1) The accuracy of all equipment used for test, measurement, and
diagnostic functions will be certified, at prescribed intervals, using
certified test and measuring equipment or calibration standards of at least
the next higher order of accuracy. All test and measurement equipment and
calibration standards will be certified using procedures that have been
developed specifically for the item being calibrated.
Like items will be
certified using identical procedures and equipment, regardless of the
application of the item.
(2) The accuracy of all certified TMDE and calibration standards will
be traceable to the National Bureau of Standards. This will be accomplished
through calibration facilities established specifically for this purpose.
(3) Major subordinate commands of DARCOM will perform continuing
product improvement, replace or modify unstable test and measuring
equipment, and insure that maximum standardization of field support test and
measuring is maintained to support the various commodity items.
In
addition, test and measuring equipment with the lowest possible accuracy
necessary for field support test of the commodity items will always be used
in preference to higher accuracy equipment.
(4) Major subordinate commands and the AMCC will maintain close
data on all test and measuring equipment requiring calibration.
