general support maintenance for general-purpose TMDE. The CRC maintains a
direct exchange operation and operational readiness floats for organic
instruments and general-purpose TMDE. it also provides calibration support
for designated special purpose (peculiar) TMDE.
CRC's may include
organizational elements for quality assurance, technical assistance,
technical supply, base TMDE repair, and calibration.
t. Area TMDE Calibration and Repair Center (ACRC).
An ACRC is
established at a strategic geographic location to provide calibration and
repair services within an assigned geographic area. ACRC's operate an Army
Area Calibration Laboratory and deploy Area TMDE Support Teams within
assigned geographic area.
u. Army Area Calibration Laboratory (AACL). The calibration laboratory
element of an Area TMDE Calibration and Repair Center (ACRC).
It is
composed of calibration specialists (civilian or military) who use the
Secondary Reference Calibration Standards Set to provide calibration
service.
The AACL calibrates selected standards in the Area TMDE Support
Team (ATST) Calibration and Repair Set and TMDE that cannot be calibrated by
an ATST within the ACRC's assigned geographic area.
v. Area TMDE Support Team (ATST). An organized element of an ACRC that
may be operated as a fixed facility, a mobile support team, or a fixed
facility with mobile support team capability. It is composed of calibration
and repair specialists (civilian or military) who use the Secondary Transfer
Calibration and Repair Set to provide service for TMDE designated for ATST
support.
w. Internal TMDE Calibration and Repair Centers (ICRC).
A CRC
established at an installation to provide calibration and repair services
for general and special purpose TMDE used in support of the installation's
internal missions.
The ICRC is normally located at a CONUS installation
where a major Army command accomplishes its research and development, test
and evaluation, materiel readiness, or depot maintenance mission. The Army
Internal Calibration Laboratory (AICL) is an organizational element of an
ICRC. It is composed of calibration specialists (civilian or military) who
use internal standards to provide calibration service for TMDE used within
an installation.

within the installation where the AICL is located.
x. Repair.
To restore an item to a serviceable condition through
correction of a specific failure or unserviceable condition.
y. Repair Incidental to Calibration. Minor repair on a limited basis.
Repair that consists of direct replacement of plug-in type components
(tubes, fuses, etc...) and replacement of other types of components
(resistors and capacitors) when the defective component is
