LESSON
AMMUNITION REWAREHOUSING OPERATIONS
MQS II Critical Task: 03-4010.01-0005
OVERVIEW
LESSON DESCRIPTION
In this lesson you will review the basic principles of ammunition rewarehousing operations. Also given in this
lesson is a description of how to determine rewarehousing requirements, plan rewarehousing operations, and
evaluate the results.
TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES
ACTION:
Review the requirements for rewarehousing ammunition, and determine the effectiveness of
rewarehousing operations.
CONDITION:
You will be given extracts from AR 190-11 and AMC Drawing 19-48-4005-1-2-3-4-1422A1000.
STANDARD:
You must be able to describe ammunition rewarehousing practices, plan rewarehousing
operations, and compute space requirements.
REFERENCES: The material contained in this lesson was derived from the following publications: AR 190-11,
AMC Drawing 19-48-75-5, AMC Drawing 19-48-4005-1-2-2-2-1422A1000, TM 9-1300-206, and

INTRODUCTION
As an ammunition officer, one of your biggest challenges is the efficient management of your available storage
space. Due to the continuous turnover of ammunition assets, quantity-distance (Q-D) and compatibility are
continually changing. This makes the effective management of storage space a constant problem. Using sound
warehousing and rewarehousing principles will resolve most storage space problems, and provide the most
effective use of the space available for ammunition storage.
LESSON
1. Before discussing rewarehousing, it is important to understand what warehousing is and the factors that
affect it. Warehousing is the art of using available space, personnel, and equipment to ensure the
efficient receipt, storage, and issue of ammunition with a minimum of handling. One of the most
important elements of warehousing is space layout. Because storage problems arise constantly, the
planned reuse of storage space can be difficult. The primary factors that govern warehousing planning
are listed below. The same factors pertain to rewarehousing planning. They will be discussed in depth
later in this lesson.
