The net explosive weight is computed in the following manner for:

Fixed, Semi fixed, and Separate Loading Projectiles: Net weight of explosives in the projectiles,

exclusive of propelling charge.

Solid Propellants: Net weight of the propellant in containers for bulk propellants or propelling

charges.

Rockets and Guided Missiles: Net weight of explosives in the warhead plus the net weight of

propellant in the rocket motor.

NOTE

An exception to the role exists where testing has shown that propellant in the rocket

motor will make no significant contribution to the high explosive yield upon detonation

of the warhead. In this case the NEW will be computed on either the warhead or

propellant, but not both, the greater distance so determined will apply.
