Ventilators
Inspect the ventilators to ensure that they are open, and that the fusible links that hold up the
dampers are not broken. Fusible links are positioned on the support chain of the ventilator lid. They
prevent fire from spreading into the magazine from the outside by melting and releasing the lid when
they are touched by heat. See Figure 2. Ventilators should be equipped with screens to prevent
animals and trash from entering the magazine. Check the screens covering the ventilators for holes
and tears. See Figure 3.
