Doors
The doors to the magazine should be locked and opened only by authorized personnel to permit
inspectors or operations. Inspect the doors for heavy rust and broken parts. See Figure 4. Check the
doors to make sure they open and close properly and that the seals are secure when the doors are
closed.

Magazine Placard
Once inside the magazine, make sure that a DA Label 85 (Magazine Placard) is posted near the
door of the magazine or on the door. See Figure 5.
Walls, Floors, and Ceiling
Inspect the walls, the floor, and the ceiling of the magazine for holes, cracks, moisture, or other
defects that require minor repairs. Inspect the storage magazine for general housecleaning - no trash,
strapping, excess dunnage, or other debris will be permitted inside the storage magazine. Ensure that
only hot soapy water or authorized sweeping compounds are used to clean magazine floors. Cleaning
compounds containing caustic alkalines will not be used where nitrated organic explosives are involved.
