A properly maintained PLL will provide the repairman with repair parts
that have been in demand, that is, history has shown that these parts fail
on a fairly regular basis.
This expedites the repair effort without high
priority demands on the supply system. From the repairman's point of view
it expedites the ordering of parts.
(2) Direct Requisition. Supply's second source that will be used to
obtain the part is a direct requisition through normal supply channels. In
this case, you may be required to complete one or more forms for supply
channel action with all the information and data on the part you need.
Local policy (SOP) will dictate the forms and procedures used.
Direct
requisition may be by NSN, Ord part number, or by exception data. Exception
data is used when no NSN or Ord part number is available. Therefore, the
request must be very complete and exact.
(3) Local Purchase.
The Army has established policies for local
purchase to expedite obtaining of repair parts and accessories.
If it is
determined to be more economical and advantageous to the government, local
purchase may be authorized.
Command policy and access to a commercial
supply facility in the area are the governing factors. The general policies
for local purchase are set forth in AR 710-1.
d. Parts Requisition Forms.
(1) The specific requisition form that will be used will depend on
the local commander's policy (SOP).
Even though the forms may vary, the
Since you already have
learned how to obtain the NSN and the characteristics of item it is
relatively easy to submit any type of requisition form for parts.
There
should be a place for all necessary information such as the date, make or
type of equipment, model number and the serial number of the end item, the
quantity needed, the NSN or Ord part number, and complete description of the
your supply section.
(2) DA Form 2765 (Request for Issue or Turn-In): This form is an 80
column, single-part card designed for single line items transactions. It is
constructed so that selected, common supply management data can be
prepunched or preprinted.
The form will be used by activities to request
issue or turn-in of repair parts and expendables.
In some cases, a
prepunched DA Form 2765 will be available for items/parts on the PLL. When
a prepunched card is available the Job is simple as far as ordering the part
is concerned. Just give all the information you have for the part you need
and let the supply personnel handle it from then on.
When a
prepunched/preprinted form is not available, the repairman may be required
by local SOP to complete the form in accordance with AR 710-2, DA PAM 700-2,
and/or local SOP.
