Learning Event 6:
ADJUST THE CENTERING CURRENT
1.
Learning Event 6 will enable you to identify and locate components in
synchronizer generator SN-386/FPN-40, to reinforce your knowledge of the use
of a multimeter, and to adjust the centering current. The centering current
adjustment sets the centered current in each of the vertical and horizontal
deflection transistors in IP-800/FPN-40.

The location and initial settings of the components and controls used
in this learning event are given below.
a. Locate the control-indicator
group
OA-2664/FPN-40
of
radar
set
AN/FPN-40 (Figure 3).
b. Locate the synchronizer-generator, electronic marker SN-386/FPN-40
(Figure 28) and panel, power distribution SB-1116/FPN-40 on control-
indicator group OA-2664/FN-40 (Figure 45).
c. Locate the following components on the front panel of
the
synchronizer-generator, electronic marker SN-386/FPN-40 (Figure 29).
(1) Chassis release handles.
(2) OFF CENTERING switch S1503.
(3) RANGE NAUTICAL MILES switch S1501.
(4) IFF ON/OFF switch S1502.
(5) OFF CENTERING HORIZ control R1503.
(6) OFF CENTERING VERT control R1502.
