provide technical management for the operation of the laboratory.
This
office collects and reviews calibration forms which have been completed by
the reference laboratory sections for each calibrated item and the base TMDE
repair team.
The forms are then forwarded to the calibration company
This office reviews schedules of supported transfer
teams and insures that no two teams are scheduled for verification at the
same time.
This section performs all
necessary reference calibration required by the transfer teams on meters,
oscilloscopes, electronic counters, ammeters, power supplies, and electronic
devices.
RADIAC instrument calibration will normally be assigned to this
section but will be performed in a shielded area.
3 Physical standards and microwave frequency section.
This
section performs all necessary reference calibration required by the
transfer teams on barometry, dimensional, mass, torque, hydraulic,
temperature, and force measuring equipment. This section also performs all
necessary reference calibration required by transfer teams on microwave
frequency,
power
standing-wave,
and
measuring equipment. Infared calibration is also performed by this section.
4 Base TMDE support team (BTST).
This repair section uses
calibration standards and special repair set equipment to repair TMDE and
calibration standards.
It supports both the laboratory, ATST and TMDE
evacuated from DS/GS units. In addition, the BTST performs local secondary
transfer level calibration.
c. Operations.
(1) The calibration company is designed primarily to provide
secondary reference and secondary transfer calibration service for all TMDE
used with Army materiel which requires such service.
This service is
provided to depots, general support units, direct support units, and, when
required, to tactical units.
Most of the support required is provided by
the mobile secondary transfer teams which operate on a scheduled basis in
accordance with required frequency of calibration established in TB 43-180.
(2) The calibration company normally establishes and operates two
secondary reference laboratories that support the ATST and BTST.
The
physical location of the laboratories will be dictated by the availability
teams they support.
