to the minimum, both from the standpoint of maintaining accuracy of using
unit TMDE and because of the impact of such rescheduling on calibration
company operations.
(7) Under certain conditions, the transfer teams may find it
necessary to provide calibration service at the using unit's site; e.g.,
when it is deemed impractical by the transfer team chief to bring certain
items requiring calibration to the maintenance facility supporting the unit.
Conversely, if there are some items that cannot be checked by either the
maintenance support unit or the secondary transfer teams, the using unit
will ship such items to the secondary reference facility for necessary
calibration.
(8) In addition to providing calibration services, the secondary
transfer teams may perform repairs incidental to calibration. These repairs
will not jeopardize the transfer team's schedule.
The transfer team will
carry a small quantity of repair parts to facilitate such repairs, but the
supported unit should provide the necessary repair parts and assist in the
maintenance, if possible. If required repairs cannot be done easily and in
a short time, the equipment will be red-tagged for repair in accordance with
TM 38-750 and evacuated to the BTST. Transfer teams also provide technical
assistance to supported units by providing guidance on the care and use of
TMDE. Calibration standards and TMDE calibration and certification channels
are indicated in figure 3.
