l. Rotate the GATE LENGTH control R595 on the computer chassis fully
counterclockwise (Figure 64).
m. Rotate GATE LENGTH control R595 on computer Chassis slowly clockwise
until little or no change is observed on the multimeter. DO NOT INCREASE
THE GATE WIDTH BEYOND THIS POINT.
n. Adjust the DEMOD EXP control R510 for 50 volts DC on the multimeter
(Figure 62).
NOTE:
Upon completing step n, recheck step j.
If voltage is no
longer 25 volts, repeat steps j and n until both voltages are
correct.
o. Disconnect multimeter.
NOTE:
Have assistant stand clear of the RT/group.
p. Place SCAN switch S305 on the power distribution panel to the ON
position (Figure 45).
q. Locate a small well-defined target on the azimuth display and adjust
the ENVELOPE control R528 (on computer chassis) until the target remains in
the same position when the sweep is moving down as it does when the sweep is
moving up (Figure 64).

You have completed the angle volts demodulator alignment of radar set
AN/FPN-40. In doing so you have ensured that the proper detected signal is
applied to the cursor-generating circuits and to the synchronizer-generator,
electronic marker, SN-386/FPN-40 to provide a vertical sweep on the cathode
ray tube during precision operation. Restore the radar set to its operating
condition by securing the computer chassis.
