Learning Event 8:
ALIGN AZ ANGLE DATA
1.
The azimuth angle data resolver alignment of radar set AN/FPN-40 is
performed to ensure that the angle data voltage provided to the navigational
computer correctly represents the position of the azimuth antenna AS-
1079/FPN-40 during precision scanning.
2.
The location and initial settings of the components and controls used
in this learning event are given below.
a. Locate the receiver-transmitter group OA-2667/FPN-40 of radar set
AN/FPN-40 (Figure 5).
b. Locate the following components on the receiver-transmitter group
OA-2667/FPN-40 (Figure 5).
(1) Control monitor C-2124A/FPN-33.
(2) Power supply PP-2489/FPN.
(3) Antenna pedestal subassembly AB-642/FPN-40 (see figure 4).
(4) Azimuth antenna AS-1079/FPN-40 (see figure 4).
(5) Antenna pedestal subassembly AB-643/FPN-40 (See figure 4).
c. Locate the following controls on the control monitor (Figure 9):
(1) Actuator CB-4209.
(2) POS motor CB-4208.
(3) Scan motor CB-4205.
d. Locate the HIGH VOLTAGE OFF button on power supply PP-2489/FPN-40
(Figure 8).
e. Locate the precision drive handwheel
on
the
antenna
pedestal
subassembly AB-643/FPN-40 (Figure 50).
f. Locate the dial scale (inside window) on the antenna pedestal
subassembly AB-642/FPN-40 (Figure 10).
The task requires the removal and
replacement of the synchro housing.
